Otome Game to Anime Adaptations are Crap.

*clears tumbleweeds off blog*

Hello! It’s been a while  I’ve been watching a few animes this spring but for the most part I’ve been busy plowing through my otome game backlog and my focus hasn’t really been on this blog. JP’s been busy with Mass Effect (or whatever other nerd game he’s playing) so there’s not been too much need to update here. However I figured since otome game to anime trend has been catching on I’d throw in a few words.

what we were (not) forced to watch this week #31: flame of recca

After a solid four months or so, we finally hunkered down and finished up Flame of Recca. The original impetus behind watching this series was kyaaaaaah Mahiron kyaaaaaah. What we ended up with was a master class on how not to do a tournament fighting arc.

Starry Sky – 02

For a few minutes I thought they had improved the animation but then…

dat mouth

(ಠ∀ಠ)

In other news I wondered what Tsukiko would look like in the anime if they tried to continue the whole eyeless Tsukiko idea from the original game:

(*′皿`艸) do not want lol

Man there isn’t even a single scene in the show that actually matches any of the CGs or memorable moments of the game. They were so cheap this week where they even replayed the same footage from last week’s episode. Really? You have 22 minutes to tell each guy’s story and the best you can do is reuse flashback footage? Great job DEEN Σ(゚∀´(┗┐ヽ(・∀・ )ノ

This will be probably our blog’s last post of the year so have a good one guys!.。゚+.(´∀`○)゚+.゚。

Starry Sky anime is QUALITY

Somehow this:

turned into this:

This is why we can’t have nice things. ( ´_ゝ`)

I don’t expect much out of this honestly. Most game adaptations are terrible but you can tell they’re just doing this for shits & giggles. In case you didn’t know it will be in an omnibus format and each guy will get 2  11minute episodes. The order of the guys will be by their zodiac sign so it will start with Yoh and end with Azusa Shiki (apparently he gets the last episode). I recommend either playing the games or checking out my reviews.

what i was forced to watch this week #44: master mosquiton 1999

I never expected the original Master Mosquiton OVA to be any good, but it was surprisingly goofy and fun. They tossed so much weird stuff together (let’s take some steampunk and then uh, a moonbase and uh, vampires in Egypt, and then go on a cruise with people speaking that goofy gaijin-style Japanese, and now we’ve got some dominatrixes fighting, and how about making the villain Rasputin?) that forget expecting it to work; I couldn’t even fathom the thought processes that came up with it. But somehow, it worked.
