Stripped of its context, this statement is going to make me sound like I am either some kind of know-it-all trying to sound smarter than you by dismissing something that you like, or like a crazy TV Tropes contributor who can’t help but compare everything they come across to that one show/book/movie/video game that they like way too much: Summer Wars is basically the exact same movie as Digimon: Bokura no War Game. See what I did there? I even called it “Bokura no War Game” rather than “the second Digimon movie” or “Children’s War Game”.
I had put off watching Digimon as long as possible. I had to download the first four movies, for example because I had thrown out our VHS fansubs of the show during a move. I mean, it’s 54 episodes (plus four movies) of a kid’s toy commercial show. There’s really not much to look forward to (or talk about) here. Then, I saw about 2 weeks ago that Mamoru Hosoda directed the first two movies, as well as an episode of the series. At that point I became significantly more interested. Would this be a case of just trying to pay the rent, or would there actually be something interesting here?
I had actually attempted to watch this a while back. I got through the first story arc, but the 10 year old CD-Rs with the second and third arcs had died so I had been trying to piece together the missing parts to finish the show. This time, rather than resume where I left off, I’d go in chronological order and watch the prequel first, then finish the series, and then watch the epilogue OVA.
So, change of plans. I had to fast track Inuyasha so that I could know what would be going on when I would be forced to watch the upcoming season.

Yes, it actually took me this long to get around to watching Cowboy Bebop. Or should I say, to completing it. I had watched a couple episodes maybe five years ago and stopped there since it wasn’t too interesting to me. As what I like to call “The anime that you’d call the best anime ever if it’s the only anime you’ve ever seen”, I don’t know if I can come up with a better example of “cool Japan” anime than this.
The only thing that bonded in this movie was the combination of DBZ, Strike Witches and dirty old men. I could have made so many stupid comics about this movie, but I’m trying to keep it at one per item I know there was a “Naruto & Sakura” scene and Hinata and Naruto had like no scenes or w/e but it was all overshadowed by how FUCKING STUPID the entire movie was. Come on chakra doesn’t fucking power massive battle ships and multiple flying stone buildings!
