what i was (not) forced to watch this week #21: giant robo
I like taking the perspective that Giant Robo is how we’d like to remember giant robot anime as being like, or perhaps what we wish they were all along. This is very different from making a making a work that meticulously tries to reproduce the way things were done back in the day, like say Gekiganger 3 or in a non-anime example, Black Dynamite. What makes Giant Robo different from those types of reproductions is that Giant Robo tries to improve upon the original, both in terms of overall quality and in terms of signifiers of quality.

Let’s start with Akagi.
Naruto Ch. 501
I haven’t posted anything about Naruto because it’s actually been interesting. Interesting Naruto = no reason to troll post 
It’s like this is what we want to see! We want to see the deal with his parents, the deal with why the 9-tails suddenly attacked and how this whole war started. This is what Naruto should be about. It shouldn’t be about Sasuke being an emofag, Kabutomaru showing up and then disappearing, random chars being introduced and killed off or Naruto’s training session #9001.
I don’t get why Naruto was born with neatly placed “whiskers” though. I mean I thought they appeared because he got the 9-tails implanted into himself…rather than because he was jut born that way

Full Metal Alchemist is almost over!? (Spoilers)

I knew this day would come eventually but I didn’t think it would be so soon. The 2nd to last chapter has been released and the manga will conclude at 108 chapters. I’m like 6 episodes behind on Brotherhood but mostly since I was up to date with the manga and I knew what happens anyway. But yea damn….Ed gets his arm back, Al reunites with his soul and the father of the homonculus getting his ass beaten down by Ed. Pretty exciting chapter. Can’t wait for the grand finale!
Hanasakeru Seishounen – 31
Ok so it’s been a while but let’s go over what’s been happening. Noei is stuck in prison by the coup de taet militants that are taking over Lagine, sent of course by Quinza. Quinza is marrying the evil bitch so he can pull strings further from the shadows. He wants to “prepare” Lagine for Rumaty to be king, so essentially he’s on the good side, but he’s just going about it all wrong! Li Ren drops the bomb this week and tells Kajika that he’s abandoned the Fang dynasty the moment he went to Lagine.
That’s it, shipping flag raised. Meanwhile Kajika wants to save Noei and save Lagine, along with Rumaty who’s been lounging in NY but I think is finally going back. Carl’s dad gets so enraged at Carl for betraying him that he gets a heart attack. Carl then realizes he really doesn’t give a damn that his father is sick and all he wants now is Kajika. Sorry Carl, guess you’re out of luck. Meanwhile back at the ranch, Mustafagene has been lounging around as a “prisoner” and getting it on with one of his servants – Kajika is about to discover this next week.
Valkyria Chronicles – 21
Pierce the heavens with your drill Alicia
Alicia kicked ass in the latter half of the episode. The first half was the fat army captain being a whiny bitch, and then followed by Faldio being a whiny bitch. The asskicking made up for it. Miss Big Tits got her ass handed to her bwaahahha.
