Kimi to Boku is Gender-Reversed Moeblob Anime

You know I was kinda pumped because finally we were getting a show about BOYS doing BOY things. Oh wait. This isn’t it. This is boys doing GIRL things. I always hated those stupid shows like Lucky Star and K-On cause it was always this group of  5 girls doing their thing. I was hoping that by having an all male lead cast, it would be something to combat all the chicks but nope. It’s basically taking those same 5 girls, removing their boobs and putting male uniforms on them. They look at cherry blossoms, braid each others hair and have tea parties and sleep overs.

What the fuck really.

If you want a show about BOYS doing BOY THINGS then I would instead recommend something like Boys Be or dare I say it, Oniichan no Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janaindakara ne! Both of those have guys doing things guys do, hit on girls, give each other chick advice, watch porn together and cry in the corner as they all get rejected by the complimenting female cast. The worst part is, this show isn’t even good as a BL anime. Most BL animes have a lot of crack/gag jokes that make them at least fun to watch. This show was as fun to watch as moldy bread on your kitchen counter. Honestly, if they were gonna go with this theme, just make them girls already. They’re already halfway there anyway (*cough redhead*).

  1. WTF… can we throw all the moeblob shit into say… a disused nuclear reactor(s)? I think Japan may have some available…
Then again maybe it would be good if we turned all the moeblob loving otaku into transsexuals…

  2. Boys doing boy things, wouldn’t that just be any large handful of your run-of-the-mill sports manga?

I think this show’s pretty telling in that the moeblob genre isn’t really something specific to male, Japanese otaku. It’s apparently an equally attractive narrative for the Japanese fujoshi, lol. I’m sure it’s being watched back-to-back with some garbage show like Sekaiichi no Hatsukoi, but that’s only really as preposterous as someone who watches Queen’s Blade and K-On! together, which apparently wasn’t that rare.

    • I’m always amused by how K-On has a noticeable female fanbase, but I’d be extremely surprised if this show has a single male viewer.

  3. I certainly did notice it being a hit amongst a decent number of girls in the West, at the very least. Tough to gauge how it was received in Japan, but my Japanese roommate and every single one of his friends were pretty into K-On! season 2 when it was airing, lol.

Can’t say I’ve heard any good things about Kimi to Boku from guys at all, so you may be right.

  4. Perhaps it’s all with the recent effeminate wave over Japanese animanga, with most male leads now being good at cooking and sewing and gardening and what-have-you rather than the earlier ‘FUCK YOU LET’S BATTLE FUCKERS’. America may have simply not transitioned to the former yet, and thus the anime doesn’t suit our tastes. Or maybe Americans aren’t effeminate enough. GUIZ LETS BRUSH EACH OTHERS LONG PINK HAIR MORE KK
