Spring 2011 Post Season Thoughts

It’s been kinda quiet (and morbid) here lately so I guess time for some of Hinano’s babbles! ^q^

So let’s actually go down the list of shows I watched:

Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai – I actually didn’t think I’d bother with this panty show but there were so many shippings I couldn’t stop watching! Actually I really wanna try the game now that an all ages version has been released. Suwabe Junichi’s character was my favorite. I forgot his name though…can’t help it since they kept bouncing in & out of character at least twice per episode! If you uh ignore the silly fanservice I actually thought the show was kinda cute lol. Go figure.

30-sai no Hoken Taiiku – What can I say? I laughed all the way to the end. I was actually really sad that it ended! Kinda wish there was more to it honestly. I hope they do a sequel with some other 30 year old virgin

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai - This is so freaking overrated I can’t believe how stupidly popular it is. I got hooked into it because I thought they’d do something interesting with it but by the end all I remember is everyone going WAAAAAAHFUCKINGAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!! And then they all moved on with their lives because Menma is fucking annoying. If you didn’t watch this show don’t bother…unless you just like seeing people emofag for 11 episodes. Also Yukiatsu is so gay, Tsuruko is just his beard

Also apparently Menma's half-Russian.

Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi – This show’s not over quite yet but if you think it’s a typical eroge fanservice dumb girl show:

Please

Think

Again.

In before Ayumu end. ^q^ Nevermind, looks like it was Ui end after all. The Japanese viewers were quite unhappy with this outcome

Starry Sky – Well the anime was epic fail from start to finish. You just can’t cover 4 games in only 13 full episodes. Also that fake zodiac sign Miyano Mamoru guy got majorly screwed because since he wasn’t in any of the games it was up to DEEN to actually write the plot for his episodes….in which there was none. (Not that any of the other episodes really had a plot either…)

Soft Tennis – This show was from run-away cows, to pro massaging shotas, to mountain hikes…and as you saw Eva parodies. Sadly they ruined it by actually playing tennis in the last 2 episodes which made the show like really boring to watch! It felt so anticlimatic! Then in the last 2 minutes they did some weird parody of something and the show ended >_> I dunno lol but I guess it was still kinda fun to watch along the way. I suppose my Misshi x Kotone shipping is doomed to fail cause that would make him a massive pedobear

Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko – If every SHAFT show was like this I would totally watch it. I mean there’s not really any photoshop filters, the character designs are fairly cute (aside from the once in a while budget drops) and Irino Miyu ftw! (well any good male seiyuu will do.) Actually a good male character in a SHAFT show is a good thing. Madoka has too many chicks and too much yuri vibe shit going on. (´・ω・`;) I guess their garage in Tokyo Bushwick got flooded cause I’ve yet to figure out where the hell the last episode of this show is. The one thing that is consistent with their other shows though:

Shaft Angles.

And that’s about it. Didn’t really bother with anything else this season except I gotta finish watching REBOUND! Also the only thing I have scheduled for summer is Uta no Prince Sama! because I plan to try out the game soon as they release the non-shitty remake version in August.

  1. Regarding Denpa, I don’t think many to the Thursday night shows aired this week. There’s a few double bills airing next week instead (including Denpa).

  2. ooh okay, thanks. I was wondering wtf happened..although at the moment its pretty much the only show I’m waiting on the finale for besides tomorrow’s airing for Hoshizora

  3. i agree pretty much with everything. I just don’t ship (as hard). And Soft Tennis is much better when it’s just Eva prodies.

  4. Mushy> TIger bunny is for buttsecks loving yaoi fangirls!

omo> Indeed, I was really sad when they suddenly stopped doing them and began actually playing tennis!

  5. LOL at Shaft face angles. All Shaft characters must be experiencing stiffnecks.
Also, my humor taste may have dropped as I found Softenni funnier than anything else in the season, including Nichijou. Except for maybe ecchi jokes, the Eva stuff and general character quirk fluff were hilarious.

  6. I found it hilarious too and I usually hate those kind of shows. I dunno there was just something lol-worthy about Softtennis…or maybe that SOMETHING was an appeal to old farts like us? XD; Nichijou seems to appeal to all the newfag moe anime fans lol.

  7. I’m watching Tiger and Bunny. I want it to be so much better than it is. The last episode had awful plot holes and should’ve been a major story arc, not something conveniently solved in only two episodes..

  8. Digi> I actually attempted to watch that show but dropped it after 10 minutes

Karuroso> I didn’t watch Steins Gate because long complicated dialogue animes are just not something I care to watch these days.

  9. My spring anime list can be summarize by ABC:
    Ao no Exorcist
    Beelzebub
    C The Money of Soul….
none other show kept me for more than the first episode.

  10. I thought the same thing you did about Steins Gate at first , but it is so much better than I expected and not really an anime that requires that much thinking if you just go along for the ride. Plus I love the pairing and potential for disaster so it’s my fav of the season.

  11. Out of those I tried to watch
    - Denpa Onna… the gorgeous eye-candy was soo sooooo tempting, but, I couldn’t go past episode 2.
    - Ano Hana – dropped it after ep 4 or something. As you said: all that angsting got to me, not to mention Menma’s character.
    - Ao no Exorcist – still ongoing, but I dropped it after episode 2. Too predictable
    - Tiger and Bunny – showed promise, but in a sort of this is more like a cartoon than anime. Didn’t really hold my interest.

    I finshed:
    - Sekaiichi Hatsukoi – expected much more fanservice *sulks*
    - Gosick – technically this is ‘leftover” from winter season. This was so an so… at one point it got quite interesting only to deliver a completely out-of-the-blue ending. UGH!
    - C – loved this one, although the ending seemed rather rushed. Perhaps an extra 2 episodes wouldn’t have gone amiss. How come you didn’t watch this one? Figured, it might appeal to you more, since it’s targeted toward a more grown-up audience. Or so it seemed to me.

    Am still watching:
    - Hanasaku Iroha – reminds me a bit of “Honey and Clover” in terms of growing up and finding one’s way in the world, only in a more light-hearted manner. If only the singer’s voice weren’t so high pitched. I have to skip the opening every time.
