Why is everyone raving about Kimi ni Todoke??

Okay so I admit I sat through the first season but after 2 episodes of season 2 I came to the realization that the entire show is this:

THIS IS THE ENTIRE SHOW. THEY WILL NEVER GET TOGETHER. THEY WILL KEEP BLUSHING, PIN SENSEI WILL KEEP COCKBLOCKING AND YANO WILL KEEP SIGHING (along with me) ABOUT HOW PATHETIC THE 2 MAIN CHARACTERS ARE. (ノಥ益ಥ)ノ 彡┻━┻

I actually dropped this show like 2 weeks ago but I noticed people were still raving about it and to me at this point watching this show is the equivalent of:

I guess this is why lately I’m so into otome games. At least there I’m guaranteed some freaking romance. I can’t deal with this kind of roundabout crap anymore ( ´_ゝ`)

  1. I’ve been lurking here a while, but this is the first time I’ve ever felt like I should comment.

I utterly adore Kimi no Todoke manga. So, no surprise, I wanted to see the anime. But what shocked me was how s…l..o..w everything was. Yes, the pace of the manga was the complete opposite of fast, but it feels different when you’re reading a visual story that spends a couple of frames in a moment because that’s what it feel like for the characters. It’s a completely different thing when the anime tries to do the same, because that sweet moment begins to feel like an eternity. I decided I didn’t care about season 2 and would see if I had better luck with the live-action movie.

  2. Some people love just watching others suffer through a go-nowhere romance. Apparently it’s “cute” and not the slightest bit pathological or disturbing.

  3. I loved season one – helped me cure my insomnia like a champ. I don’t remember much about it, though. Something funny from Ping, an annoying puppy, and that’s about it. Is season two more of the same? I’ll have to keep it handy for those long, sleepless nights.

  4. I refuse to watch the second season until it’s over and someone can tell me if they hook up. If they do, I’ll watch it. If not, I won’t.

  6. @janette: Will you accept a spoiler from the manga? Assuming, as I do, that they’ll follow the manga closely.

  7. Reach episode 4 then decide whether or not to keep going. Getting up to episode 3 was a drag, but 4 made it worth it. This is why Ayane is my favourite.

  8. Seeing that there are only 13 episodes this season, there will probably be a 3rd season.
I read the manga too, but I can’t really tell whether it is reaching a end or not yet. (Read up to chapter 53 so far) So I’m guessing if there is a season 3 it would be another 24-26 season unless they split it with a season 4 or something.

  9. @Ice – I doubt there will be a third season with the shortened OP and ED.

I haven’t finished season 1 yet, but there should be a good point to stop and have a very satisfying conclusion for the anime (said point is where the manga should’ve finished =__=).

They’re kinda boring after getting together in the manga…

  10. ok so the general consensus here is “read the manga” right? ┐(‘~`;)┌

Eh I figured most shoujo manga adaptations are crap. I’m basically with you Janette – if something happens I’ll give it a 2nd look but otherwise it’s dropped until further notice

  11. I’m with you and I’ve read the damned manga. I keep going back and wondering if they are adding crap to fill it out and it’s not the case. I guess I’m hoping if I stick it out, when they FINALLY do get together it’ll be as satisfying as the manga was… but I don’t have that kind of attention span.

I really don’t want to drop it, but I may be with you on that…

  12. it took you a full season and 2 episodes to realize that? maybe I’m just jaded but I dropped this show after 2 episodes of the first season for the same reason.

  14. man that 6th episode was so incredibly rage inducing. I wanted to strangle Sawako the entire 20 minutes.
