Full Metal Alchemist’s Grand Finale (Chapter 108 spoilers)

My 6 year fandom has finally come to an end.

So to make a long story short, Ed sacrificed his knowledge of alchemy in order to save his brother.  I still don’t get how/why Hohenheim died though? But anyway more importantly:

Ed x Winry is canon. He just proposed to her, said he’d give her half his life, she said she’d give him all his life. Further canonization:

Babies. :lol: Can’t get anymore canon than that! Oh well we all knew it was coming. Does this also mean Mei x Al is canon then? XDDD Oh well time to go on pixiv and browse some edwin fanarts \(^q^)/ It was a fun ride!

    I think Hohenheim died because he used up all the extra souls and was just left with his own life which came to an end.

  2. Ooh okay. I have no idea how old he really was and isn’t it a bit too convenient that he died right in front of Trisha’s grave?? lol. Oh well the poor old man deserved to finally rest in peace I guess ^_^;

  3. Al caught yellow fever. Love how tall Ed is. I think it’s pretty clear the real reason he paid the toll was to become a big tall guy and get Winry preggers.

    If this were more realistic, Ed would be fat from being used to eating for 2.

  5. Maybe some asian gene kicked in and gave her a growth spurt? How old was she supposed to be anyway. I feel like she and al have this 7 year difference lol

  7. Obviously you don’t understand the power of TRU WUV that kept Hohenheim’s engine chugging along until he was able to crawl back to Trisha’s grave for one last sight of it before biting the dust. And, his quick skedaddle out of the scene where everyone’s celebrating Al’s survival bought him a precious few more moments.

    Actually, I was hoping for Hohenheim to live long enough to see the birth of his grandchildren, but I guess he never really cared for his children all that much – the love of his life was Trisha, and Ed and Al were just unfortunate bugs that happened to come with the package …

  9. I think Hohenheim did say he had enough left to sacrifice himself for Al’s body, and that that would use up the rest of his stone. Gonna guess “Fighting against God” was an energy intensive event :P

    The best part of the ending, for me at least, was definitely realizing how tall the brothers had gotten while reading the actual chapter–as opposed to the photo, which was interesting mostly for the babies thing.

  19. Just read this and it was some ride though I’m not fond of the way Ed beat up Father just because he got two functional arms when he struggled against pride and don’t even try to tell me about the power of everyone vs Father as they couldn’t dent him.

    Glad the ed x winry ending was done in a funny manner though it still felt the confession was slapped on rather than played out in the final chapter.

  21. Nooooooooooo greed died. sad part for me. Winry faces on page 103 was sooooo cute. Stilll i like the chapter and hope one day another fma will came out. Still there are a few questions that i have (forgotten what they where) that i wished was answered. Hinano did ou know that the anime might have a differnt ending to that of the manga. So maybe roy x riza will end up there.

    I guess there are moments in every anime fan’s life when certain points are reached. This is definetly one of them.

  25. This is just me being picky but they asked why ed still has his automail leg, and he said it was because winry would get lonely.

    Does that mean he knows how to get his leg back? He can’t do alchemy so I doubt that.

  27. I just managed to read it this morning. Was very pleased… well aside the lack of Roy-Riza. Oh and I’d have rather liked some EdxWinry kiss too. *sulks*

    Ah well: glad Al got his body back.

    P.S. What about Ling and Lan-Fan? *stares* Hope the anime will have a better epilogue.

    wow, whataride that was.

    All I’m upset about is no RizaxRoy scene and that Ed can’t use alchemy anymore =(

    Other than that this was a WAY better ending than the first anime.

    Also I wanted Ed and Winry to kiss >.>

  32. But damn this was a great ending to one of the best mangas of all time. Hope the new anime doesn’t screw it up.

    Oh I hope they make a movie =D

  33. There’s a side story after this chapter, but it’s just about Ed, Al, and Winry making stuff with Al’s armor. No RoyAi for you. T-T
