So one of my friends ran into some trouble with an elitist fansub group so I figured I’d post some fangirl rage on her behalf. My long time friend, who actually helped me fansub Trouble Chocolate and Kodomo no Omocha 10 years ago, and also does translation as a real job at a company that’s not some animu company, decided she wanted to fansub again so she offered her services to an elitist Japanese drama fansub group. Ichigo 100% is one of the most aggressively lazy fanservice series that I’ve seen yet. Let’s compare it with something like He is My Master from last week. He is My Master, as awful as it was, would at least set up situations or reasons to segue into its fanservice. Izumi breaks a vase, so she is forced to become a maid; becoming a maid, of course, requires her to wear a maid uniform. There. Now we have a basis for having the female characters walk around in fetish-wear.
Since I only managed to get about one-third of the way into this one back when it aired, I had a bit of a slog ahead of me this time. There is really only one thing to really say about He Is My Master: it’s strictly worse than Mahoromatic in almost every way. It is less funny (I didn’t even have any scenes where I laughed while cursing at how I could feel my brain cells dying; surprisingly a perverted lolicon otaku alligator is less funny in practice than one would assume), the characters are much more hateable, and it doesn’t even have uncensored nudidity. Why “almost” every way? Two reasons. The first is no Minawa. The second?
Would I watch it even if I weren’t forced? KYAAAAAAAAAAAAH THEY GET MARRIED AT THE END ｡ﾟ:;｡+ﾟ☆(///ω///)★ﾟ+｡::ﾟ｡:.ﾟ｡
…Oh wait, my bad. They don’t actually get married. At least it provided some useful AMV footage.
