There really isn’t much to say about Boku no Marie. It’s a 3 episode OVA (mid-90s, so there are nipples), so it can only give the barest possible promotion for its source manga. You get one episode of backstory, one episode with some conflict, and then one last episode to make it look a little bit complicated. You don’t however really get enough time to do things like tell a story or introduce interesting characters. In that mini-genre of robot girlfriend anime, Video Girl Ai, Hand Maid May, Chobits, or even Buttobi CPU (and if you want to count it, Mahoromatic) are better than this. The only thing particularly memorable about it are how atrocious the character designs are. They have the longest faces this side of Mr. Horse from Ren and Stimpy:
And the strangest part of all is that the manga designs aren’t even remotely as bad.

I watched this purely on the basis of a cool AMV using ELO’s “Yours Truly 2095.” Man was I disapointed. I like to pretend that the animation was made specifically for that video now.
