the “best” anime of 2009

Well since apparently JP’s 2008 post was popular I figured we should do one for 2009. Obviously this is mostly opinion based (at least from my stand point) but this year I think it’s better than both of us contribute to the 2009 year in review.

I mean, Scrapped Princess is technically proficient. That’s probably the best thing I can say about it. It’s got great animation, decent music, and a strong voice cast. The execution though…not so much.

what i was forced to watch this week #54: mermaid melody pichi pichi pitch

Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch is your standard little girl merchandise commercial anime. You have some mermaid princesses (obviously you need princesses) who can also walk around on land and stuff so that they can meet wholesome boys and (gasp!) kiss them. Also, there some evil mermaids and the good mermaids and evil mermaids fight each other by singing.

Indeed.

Had to settle with subtitled episodes because I guess the raws were so randy all the streaming sites removed them before I even got home! Not that I’m surprised

Hanasakeru Seishounen – 34

Yeaaa it’s pretty much canon at this point Quinza tries to kill Kajika, Li Ren kills Quinza, Kajika realizes in that “life flashing before your eyes” moment that she only wants Li Ren. Also Carl’s sister threw an ashtray and somebody died by having a light bulb fall on their head lol. Ah well it was obvious from the start who she’d end up with, but glad they’ve finally sealed the deal here. Unfortunately the show’s taking another stupid break and there will be no new episodes until January 17th blah. I guess they really wanna just stretch it out so that it ends simultaneously with the winter anime season.
