Game Review: CCY先輩は１７歳

I had intended to review this on my game blog initially, but since this game is about anime bloggers, I felt doing it here would be more fitting.　This is a review of lolikit’s visual novel that he’s working on with Choux and Sixten. The game is still incomplete, scenarios are still unfinished but it was amusing to say the least for what has been done so far. Since I’ve made my own visual novel before, I will also review the game structure in addition to content.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say this was a BL game in disguise.

For shits & giggles I decided to do the gay route first and funny enough not only did I get a good end but I got to kill Scott from Anime Almanac while I was at it! Too bad my character in the game wasn’t the one to do it, but CCY did instead xD;

Lol Owen.

The fact that Owen is Omo’s boyfriend in this game was really amusing. Although I still think my own depiction of him was better

So yea this was basically the good end. You kill scott, and then everyone wants to do you (CCY). LOL. Funny enough I got this on my first run. When I decided to go through the non gay route though, I got a chance to flash Impz’ panty bulge, look up Omo’s  skirt when he was nopan, and then die in various way because the ratio of good to bad ends at this point felt like 1:9 lol.

Turns out, I am also in this game teaching a class on Visual Novels! Unfortunately taking my class somehow warps reality (looping the lucky star OP and Chaos;Head endings) and no matter what you pick you get a bad end lol. Maybe that will be developed later….or maybe not

And now for some game mechanics critique, I’m only trying to help you lk! First thing please add a button menu in the front. It got really annoying to have to constantly right click, hit preferences and then hit “begin skipping” everytime I wanted to skip through dialogue. I know there’s a simple script command for adding the default set of menu buttons (save, load, quit and skip). I can’t remeber what it is but it’s definitely on the ren’py wiki or in one of the ren’py help files.

Secondly, I know the walls of text are for lulz but honestly try to keep it down to 1-2 sentences at a time. Unless the tl;dr effect is supposed to be played here or something lol. The other thing that bugged me was how all the character cut-outs are really small.  They should be more centered and a little large otherwise there’s too much empty space all around so I end up only focusing on the text and never really looking at the characters.

P.S. Baka-Raptor’s music makes my ears bleed, -10 points! lol
