I’m a lot more inspired to do meta jokes than jokes about an episode of an anime, so yea probably no more anime related comics but rather things like this.
I’m going to try to do comics in Manga Studio again, but they may end up being in black & white. Does anyone mind? Or is color the must have with these kinds of things? I also should probably name this comic series I think but I can’t think of a good name, open to suggestions.
In the last year we bought DVDs, manga (English and Japanese), figures, books, magazines, and even a plushie Angeling. We watched anime on Bost, Crunchyroll, Hulu, Youtube, Funimation’s stream, Cartoon Network, and even Kurokami on Imagination.
Therefore, it’s pretty safe to say that we don’t support the industry.
Well if you won’t colour them, do you mind your readers colouring them?
LOL for the fourth panel. Some clarifications needed. In the last panel, is he saying smile.dk? What is the black guy saying in the first panel?
Is that a play on Gilgamesh? >_<
@anime_miz http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm6358429
これはひどい~!
Hinanomomomomomo, perhaps? =P
GUHROOGAMESH~
Whatever will you do, now that he’s blocking you on Twitter? D:
“Hinano’s Chronicles X” lol it doesn’t that that bad xD and black and white mmm make it a 4 Panel manga like K-ON! It may work that way ^ ^
I’m glad I didn’t go otherwise I would have stabbed that guy.
I don’t get it. Who’s that guy supposed to be? Less obscure next time plz
Re: video posted by 静か:
*facepalm*
I look forward to your Sakura Matsuri article. PLEASE make fun of those weeaboos! How dare they give my DDR a bad name!
Smile.dk!
I love how his expression never changes. It must be a nice ability to be able to block out the annoyances in the world.
Ha, I haven’t been to a convention in like 3 years. Guess I missed out, eh?
Btw, please keep making comics. Kinda reminds me of Mistakes of Youth, but less… pedophilic.
XD This was absolutely great. The weeaboos popping out of the trees made me literally laugh out loud. Then I sighed a little because I could imagine it happening.
The whole thing, absolutely classic.
On color I say that it doesn’t matter as long as it’s funny. Though the color does look quite nice~
Hey your art is a lot better now or have I confused you with DS? Are you sure JP is that handsome and you have such hair/boobs? We readers want realism.
Anyway jokes aside, who’s that loser?
poor trees…
I like the shadow weeaboos.
Om nom nom!
Is it supposed to be “Funi,” or is it changed on purpose?
And is that a caricature of the guy from Anime Almanac?
@Fuyumaiden
Last year at the Sakura Matsuri, THEY ACTUALLY DID DO THAT. You don’t have to imagine it!
Also, this morning on the news they had a quick rundown of some of the events this weekend in the five boroughs. One of the ones they listed was the Sakura Matsuri. They mentioned the taiko drumming, flower hat dance, food, etc. They showed three pictures: a taiko drummer, a woman in a kimono, and a Japanese family looking at the trees.
Nowhere did they show or mention any of the Sakuracon (GUHROOGAMESH!) stuff. That’s basically the source of our annoyance with the whole con-ification of this event. The audience for this is (or at least, had been) primarily 1) the large Japanese community, 2) people who live in the area, and 3) people wanting a relaxing day in the park. Teenagers hanging from trees and yelling kinda ruins the appeal.
What’s jp’s shirt say?
Owen> Everything is just as ACCORDION (He has a shirt similar to this but I changed the wording
)
Aw come on guys isn’t it obvious who I love Funimation tshirt guy is
korosora> Well that is the main focus of his ideas XD
microlm> The wonders of copy & paste
Shizuka> when I said I wouldn’t color them, I meant they’d be toned like in a manga/doujinshi.
Kabitzin & Onyx> I need something people can remember off the top of their heads! But the only thing I could come up with was “Minaide! Hetakuso…”
Anon> it was intentional. yes.
LMAO
That loser could be anyone!
Black & White is fine; your scorn will be felt by all color or no color.
I still remember that girls name from the tree humpers. Has she still been trying to be friends? lol
Sadness personified.
LOL I totally forgot about her! That was such a great moment of self-awareness.
Wow you remember her name? I don’t…LOL
I forgot about her too….
MegaHinano
2d hinano > 3d
You should probably post one in black and white so we can compare. Though Sabrina is right that you won’t satisfy everyone. Maybe you could have a Sunday color strip
Also your 4koma has 6 panels!!! How dare you deface Nippon!!! Blah blah blah, etc. etc.
I never said this was a 4koma
I just said “vertical panel comic”
n-koma
btw i still need a name for the comic D8 help me out guys lol
You know, I have to admit, I’m actually happy with this comic.
First of all, it’s very well drawn. Unlike DS, you actually have some artistic talent. I can appreciate good art.
But besides that, I think it does accurately illustrate me. It might be a little exaggerated, and the rape line is out of context (rape is a horrible erotic plot device, people!), but I did say all those things and stand by it. And I’m glad you picked up on what I’m was trying to say over twitter yesterday.
Look, Hinano, I don’t give a damn about your views on fansubbing. Many people disagree with me and you’re no different. So don’t worry about that, you can continue doing whatever you do.
The reason why you are on my shit-list is because of your disgusting ways of making fun of other anime fans. Remember the comment I left on your AnimeNEXT post last year? I couldn’t believe that you spend so much time and effort into blasting all the kids at the event who were having fun.
I might not be considered a “narutard” by any stretch of the imagination, and I’m not the loud kid hanging in the tree. But I found my own way to enjoy AnimeNEXT. I got to hang out with folks like Gia and Brad of Japanator. I spent an hour interviewing Greg Ayers! I got to network with those inside of the industry, and actually took a proactive role in my cause and ideals.
It was a fun convention and many people enjoyed it. So why you gotta shit on everyone’s good time?
I said this to you back then and I’ll say it to you today:
If you’re not going to enjoy the event and you hate the people there, THEN JUST DON’T GO!
No one is forcing you. Don’t give the BBG that satisfaction of that $10 admission fee. Stay at home with your new husband. Download some raws. Write about how much each episode sucked on your blog.
Or better yet, go have a picnic somewhere else in the city. Brooklyn is not the only place with cherry blossoms this time of year. Go to Central Park or something.
But don’t lie to everybody about going to the festival “just for the lulz.” How pathetic do you have to be to go out of your way, travel somewhere, and pay an admission fee only to put down others around you?
Otaku are going to be there. You know this already. You know how otaku behave, and you very publicly stated that you WANT NO PART IN IT.
But you’re still going anyway. You want to be there. You are a raging fangirl who is not actually Japanese but LOVES Japanese things. You are no different than me, the narutard, or the kid yelling in the tree.
You just like to think you are.
Anyway, I’ll see you there tomorrow. I’m going for networking reasons and to scope out possible future blog posts.
Looks like it’s going to be a fun time.
I’m sure JP can come up with something cynical
“n-koma”
I was freaked out for a second there.
I was a little surprised that 2d Hinano didn’t forcefully tell him to shut up and get out.
Scott> Well, I don’t know if me replying to your comment is going to matter since you misunderstand my intentions 100% of the time but I’ll give it a shot anyway.
Sakura Matsuri is meant for enjoying cherry blossoms, japanese culture (as in the taiko drumming, and tea ceremonies) and just having a relaxing day in the park.
it’s not an anime convention, therefore when I come there, I do not expect to see retards climbing trees and yelling their heads off. They don’t have to be anime fans, they could have been random idiot teenagers – but since they were cosplaying as naruto characters, I made the association.
You’re missing the point that I enjoy Japanese fandom, I never denied being an anime fan. However, I don’t appreciate teenagers acting like twats just because they’re without their parents for a day. I don’t care if they like or hate anime, they’re acting like twats regardless.
This applies to any event I go to, be it Japan related or not – I would treat the idiotic teenagers with the same contempt. If you don’t believe me, that’s up to you, I’m not gonna bother banging my head against the wall to prove it
I didn’t know there are cherry blossoms in other parks nearby actually. From what I understand, the bulk of them are at the BBG, therefore I am going to the BBG. I actually do like Japanese tea ceremonies (I am a tea fanatic btw), and I really liked the Japanese dance thing that the old ladies did last year. I also loved taking photos in front of the cherry blossoms.
That is why I go there. I don’t go there to make fun of otaku. I haven’t even been to an anime con since NYAF in September. You’re so busy acting like you’re god of the anime industry that you make these stupid assumptions, to which I naturally backlash at because they’re completely and utterly wrong.
But whatever, I’m surprised you even came by here, as I was under the impression my blog was the heathen of the internet.
Scott you said it all but better.
Jeezuz…I would’ve shat bricks if a random shadow dude popped out of nowhere out of a cherry tree…especially if he randomly blurts out GUHROOGAMESH….
Color or no color is fine. Content is always a first..
I have another idea for tonight’s comic, which I might do B&W as a test of this theory
Posting in an epic comment section.
Somehow this feels like deja vu . . . I think it boils down to this. You think dignified behavior is a reasonable expectation of other people at cons and such. Scott thinks that the reason people go to cons (and Sakura Matsuri, apparently) is to escape the obligation of dignified behavior.
As long as you don’t call me faggot, I’m willing to listen to you.
As far as you not going there to make fun of otaku… well, I hope that you’re right and that I am misinterpreting your past post, because it sure looked like your aim was to shit on everyone there.
Just be careful of the otaku bashing, ok? It’s so easy make fun of others to overcompensate for our own quirks. The only people who bash otaku are otaku themselves, and all that rage is completely unnecessary.
And I am telling you Scott, I don’t bash otaku for being otaku. My twitter list is full of otaku. I bash stupid teenagers who act like ignorant fucks just because they are without their parents for a day. This also applies to really annoying fat people on the subway who take up 4 seats, and assholes with huge bagpacks that take up the standing room of 1 *extra* person.
Also moritheil, I actually don’t expect dignified behavior at anime cons. I expect asshat teenagers mixed in with a few sane anime fans. At sakura matsuri though, I don’t expect anime con behavior, and I was really annoyed that they are promoting the event as so. See JP’s comment about the NY1 commercial, that’s what I think of when I think of this event.
Additionally, multiple people at work have talked about wanting to go to the Sakura Matsuri after hearing about it on the news or reading about it in the paper. They don’t plan on going because they’re otaku or anything, but simply because they thought it would be nice to have a quiet picnic under the pretty cherry blossoms, because they thought it would be a relaxing, low-key day at the park. That’s the way that I’d always seen it advertised for the last 5 years. The otaku stuff is new this year. As we have enjoyed it numerous times in the past for what it was (and it was pretty crowded those other times, too so it’s not like they need to drum up extra support or anything), it is frustrating to be told “If you don’t like it, don’t go” since we DO (or at least, DID) like it.
And it’s not even about “geeking out”, either. There were numerous sane people wearing kimonos or shinsengumi outfits or whatever last year watching the demonstrations and eating the food and listening to the bands and what not. That counts as “geeking out” to me. Running around screaming or breaking limbs off of trees does not count as “geeking out” to me, and it still doesn’t count as “geeking out”, nor does it become excusable, because you’re dressed as Light.
Rereading your post . . . you don’t even necessarily apply that requirement at cons. You’re applying it in “normal” public places. Scott wishes to defend the ability of people to geek out without suffering social consequences.
PS – 4th panel teen should be yelling “J-ROCK!”
Otaku bashing just means we’re coming closer to a Japanese-like society.
John> That’s the last thing I want to become like
I don’t think that many people would have even known who the inspiration was; had it no appeared and revealed itself.
Makes it all the more valuable in the long run. Nothing like getting let in on the joke.
This post is bringing up a lot of Deja Vu’s. Maybe Inokate (tree humper girl) is looking for a boyfriend.
holy shit you remembered her name!
“Unlike DS, you actually have some artistic talent. I can appreciate good art.”
Quite uncalled for, Scott.
Anyway, we all know you are madly in love with Hinano, so just admit it! =P
4koma w/ 6 panels, the last frame of the panel actually happening live on this thread… I love this blog
@DS You’re not going to let him get away with that, are you?
@Hinano vs. Scott: oh lulz.
I really love how jp just stays silent in every single panel. Such a good submissive husband.
GIRUGAMESH!
At the 5th block, I cant read that japanese character. Dammit.
My response:
http://tinyurl.com/clzujj
Your silence and facial expression is just pure gold
Colour is nice, but it doesn’t matter as long as you keep making them. This is going to be fun xD

Maybe the title of the comic series should be “Don’t look! It’s a comic!”
Well I don’t know. I think it’s very funny and yet true about how people(mainly teenagers) climbing on the Sakura trees, yelling out whatever they say is making a huge fool on themselves. But I still love the comic!
Dokimasu> that’s actually a cute name xDDD
