While we’re on the topic of shows having content that’s completely incoherent with the show’s theme: Fanservice. I mean I never really played the game so I can’t comment, but for some reason seeing scenes of Alicia blushing over naked mans as well as…

…scenes about laundry and panties threw me off a bit 
The end was the real kicker where he claimed that they had a “Undergarment and Naked” relationship LOL (followed by a slap on the wrong guy.) Also the beginning scene with all the army leaders & stuff I couldn’t take seriously because they kept zooming in on the woman’s huge boobs. I mean it looks like she had inflated beachballs in that suit 
It’s hard to take a war show serously, if they keep this up they’ll soon be at Gonzo’s level lol.
I’ve played the game and I’m not happy with how the anime is going. The anime has all this new material that I feel is bogging the story pace down. At this story point of the game, it was obvious the Alicia had the hots for Welkin and Faldio was barely in the picture. I’ve heard that they planned a love triangle between the 3, but I fear the anime is going to get lost in itself with these extra additions.
The inflated beachballs are pretty much taken from the game and I’m not complaining about that. Every game player knew where the fanservice was going to be.
How about the naked manservice?
I have to say its hard to take this show seriously even sans fanservice – I don’t think a single person behind the production of this show knows one thing about the military. But, then again, I’m kind of a pain in the ass about shit like that.
@Hinano: Not from what I recall, but back then when I was playing the game, I knew what I was looking for, and glazed over the rest.
@adaywithoutme: As a gameplayer, I’m more forgiving about the lack of military emphasis and understanding because the game is not a realtime strategy wargame, it’s a turn-base fantasy RPG. The game does a good job to let you know that this is not to be taken serious (though it does suck to lose your guys during play). The anime conversion loses much of that gameplay so all we have left is the alternate European WWII universe atmosphere, but that kinda changes once Selvaria and her beachballs start owning the battlefield.
This shows needs to be spiced up! Like say… a tiberium meteor and Kane. In the name of Kane!
Lol, in the game, I never even noticed Selevaria’s beach balls. They were rarely in the picture, due to the talking-portrait conversation format.
As far as fanservice in the game though, there was this one extra beach side story you could buy for a lot of money.
You get to see the girls in their bikinis, and Welkin in his HOT, MANLY 20′s~ ish style one-piece swim suit–stripe pattern (just kinda a body suit that covered halfway down his thigh. He even had a matching swimming cap).
Aside from that, there isn’t really much fanservice that I’ve run into, though the downloadable extra episode featuring Selvaria makes some jokes about her artillery….
The anime’s definitely exaggerated something for whatever reason… personally, I wish they’d get to fleshing out the soldiers fighting on the side already.

I’m also confused as to why the units aren’t, like, using the weapons they’re actually supposed to be using. Like, where’s my missile lances toted by crazy veggie maniacs?

That reminds me of the various times in the Sakura Taisen games where you’d go to the beach and at least one character would have one of those 20′s full-body suits and everyone else would be wearing bikinis.
ROFL! ManService! It wasn’t in the game not that I recall but well i’m a guy so It may happen but my memory make me forget it xD

Agreed. We need more of supertank and its ability to achieve strategically improbable victories.
I loved how at the end nobody followed Welkin’s cheer. Way to make your captain look stupid.
