Screw Meta, let’s talk about blogs missing in action!

Sure everyone & their grandma is doing the “let’s mention new blogs” post. Well I’m gonna be an ass and say “i don’t care about new blogs” how about we talk about all the great blogs that are now missing in action for reasons still unknown to me. Or perhaps they are not missing in action, but they only seem to update less than once a month. I mean where are all these great bloggers who I started blogging with, we had some great times together. Perhaps if they actually get more visits spewing from this post it will motivate them to update!

So let’s get started!

Coffee Spoons – A blog by Itsubun who was once the leader of the  female blogger rebellion, or whatever we called at at the time. But she doesn’t update anymore! She had such great posts too, Itsu darling where are you??

Daijoubu – Ok ok I know Dan just recently did a mega-daijoubu about Haruhi-chan (whatever who watches that show?) but now that Albatross18 is dead and Pangya Japan banned our non Japanese asses, you have no excuse NOT to update your blog. Hell at least do a weekly Mega Daijoubu, but I suppose me not going to anime cons & making fun of Narutards has left you at loss for material.

Taiyaki 4 Dinner – Well ever since my blog got blown up by rabid Shugo Chara fangirls I quit blogging about buttsecks which left Alex to finish blogging over at his own. However once that ended, he now spends time playing Megaten with us, acceptable excuse. Carry on sir.

Riuva – Well the only one who really blogs here is Ascaloth with his Clannad posts. TJ Han is busy getting over his animu habit like JP & I to give a damn about anime blogging. Actually he only pops in to post in order to generate google ad revenue.

Basu Gasu Bakuhatsu – Hung is busy getting 20 master degrees at the same time and he only updates when Anime Company X sends him some manga from like 10 years ago to review.

Memento – Well I’m not gonna pressure  the guy but he has the same syndrome that JP, me and TJ han have = real life is a lot more interesting than being cooped up watching animu and humping body pillows these days. Who knows if he’s ever coming back but at least he wrote a proper goodbye post.

Hop Step Jump – Guess who ELSE got the real life disease taking over! Dang I’m starting to sound like a broken record here. At least he’s still around on Twitter so we can all keep in touch that way.

Cinammon Ass – you know this blog was one of my blogging inspirations back in 2006. But yea I guess he’s tired of writing rehash plot summaries too. It’s ok buddy we understand.

ysp:duh! – Before Shugo Chara came along, there was almost no girl bloggers except like me and Ten. Now it seems like every active blogger is a woman so it’s not so speshul anymore. Ten where are you!  I’ll just assume real life disease etc.

Itsumo Anime Blog – She’s been around forever too and when I think of her blog I think of Nana all the time. But yea once again, real life stuff happens, I think that’s why her blogging became sporadic. I know she’s been trying to make a come back though..ganbare!

Hige vs Otaku - I dunno whenever I thought of this guy Asuma from Naruto always came up. Then Kishimoto had to come along and kill him and I think this took a toll on the poor guy. Now I hardly ever see any Naruto posts from him, I wonder if he even reads the manga anymore. It sucks losing touch with bloggers due to dissimilar interests. :/

Bluemist – Bluemist was always a sporadic blogger so nothing surprising here. I did enjoy all his eroge related posts though.

Natsukashii - OS’s attempt to come back ended in a tragic failure.

Anime Stock Exchange – you know this blog was a damn good idea. But then it died for like a REALLY LONG TIME but then he updated this January. I was shocked. But I have a feeling he’s rolling back into hiatus again.

If you have read every blog on this list at least once, you win the internet. If not, noob. LOL. Ok I’m done trolling, this is what happens during Pangya down time.

  1. Then Kishimoto had to come along and kill him and I think this took a toll on the poor guy.

LOL! I think that is one of the best reasons for hiatus.

Man this post makes me nostalgic, but in a depressing way! When you start your blog at the same time as some other bloggers, you think of those concurrent bloggers almost as classmates. It’s always kinda sad seeing these classmates fall away.

  2. Don’t 20 MS degrees at a time count as real life? Or is that real lack-of-life. Honestly I think I could count having a life as my reason for not posting as much. At least that sounds cooler.

  3. Sporadic blogger represent!

I could say that I have my real-life reasons though I’m fairly active on Twitter so that’s not enough reason. My interest in eroge has somewhat declined, and I’m too bored to finish the DCIIPC which I’m supposed to feature. I wanted to talk about my other fandom side too (shoujo genre), although my ambitions run too high on that, coz I wanted it to be like the ‘summer-of-bishoujo’ thingy that I’ve done.

All of those bloggers are very familiar names to me. Great times really. I also wanted to mention Matthew too (http://matthew.animeblogger.net) had gone sporadic as well. We had more or less the same genre interest.

    Anyway thanks for the bump.

  4. double> oh he doesn’t? LOL well whatever adsense he has on there lmao I don’t pay attention

Kabitzin> Whoa I didn’t know that xD; Interesting!

    Hung> lol ok ok xD;

bluemist> yea I didn’t mention matthew cause he was pretty inactive within my first year of blogging so he was pretty dead when I started in the first place.

  5. I really liked Koibito Anime. They weren’t around for all that long, but I liked the direction they were going. Epic Win Blog should also get a quick shout out.

I never heard of Anime Stock Exchange before, but the idea sounds awesome. Too bad you have to be an active poster for it to work, though.

  6. I think if more bloggers invested the amount of time, money, and energy into real life as they do collecting dakimakuras to act as glorified jerk-rags, then the world would be a much, much better place.

Looking at all of the amazing blogs that have fallen to the wayside and seeing the curdled crop of crap that is the new breed makes me want to return all the less.

  7. Ashley> LOL true dat. XD I do miss your posts though ;_;

Michael> Both of the blogs you mentioned while to you may be old, I’m like going back to 2006 here, neither of which I recall back in the day. xD; Sorry lol. I never really read Koibito Anime…we’re better than them anyway!! (shameless self promotion)

Taiyaki> LOL oh no not Junjou 3!

  8. Last time I heard, Itsubun was swamped in real life.

Man, I’ve never really gotten the oldfag aniblogger thing, but I guess that’s what happens when you don’t post for ages–you cease to be relevant to the rest!

I don’t really miss/know/read the blogs you’ve listed here bar Cinnamon Ass and Coffee Spoons, but I guess this was a good reminder of the dearly departed.

  9. Oh I’m banned on adsense cos google is really evil, but I use other revenue makers.

Hey I’m not over anime, I still watch over 90% of new anime series as they are released. The only problem is I only have my laptop and it’s small HD spce means I have to delete each episode ASAP after viewing it. That means no screen caps.

I suppose real life needs a lot more time and effort, but Riuva just helped recently when some interviewer for an exchange program figured he should send me as an applicant to Waseda. I don’t think I made it in the end, but I can pray.

  10. I shall has a blog! And blog about how crap animu is! Oh wait… I am already doing that. My bad. The only thing I’m watching is Kojika. shotali also loev Kojika.

Frankly speaking, the idiocity that occurs at work and the lack of good stuff to watch is taking is toll.

  11. tjhan> lol what why did you get banned? Did you tell people to click on your ads or something? Lol
I usually delete after watching too – but after i took my 1-2 screencaps lol. Good luck!

Digi> indeed, winter season sucks as always.

Owen> I almost mentioned your blog but I feel like I talk to you every day on twitter you didn’t feel “hiatusy” to me xD

Soujourner> haha Junjou 3 has that been confirmed??

  12. Hinano: And Owen is also slowblogging on purpose, so I wouldn’t think that would count.

Lawson posts on another blog, though it’s less anime, and more anime as just another part of real life stuff. Which is cool.

I’ve heard and checked out most, if not all of the blogs in your list, and I still hope that some of them might come and blog again.

And I read your title briefly as “Screw Meta, I Want To Live!” when I first saw it. :P

  13. N: LOL. “Screw Meta, I Want To Live” would be doubly meta, or meta-meta?

Hinano: tj got owned by some fag who decided to click repeatedly on all his links just to get him banned, IIRC.

Yeah, blogging’s been tough lately. Probably burnt out on the race to watch new anime more than I care to admit, so I’ve been sticking to a more realistic goal of finish off the 20-30GB backlog before I get back into the business of downloading new stuff again.

  14. Indeed, I got pwned by a combination of pranksters and google. But it was for the best, since textlinkads gives a hellalot more money.

    Also, Owen S sucks balls.

  15. I thought you got pwnt because you’re not allowed to tell people to click on ads, yet you flagrantly said “CLICK HERE TO BUY ARTIFICIAL VAGINAS!”

  16. TJ: Is there still a market for TLA? They paid A HELL of a lot more than Google, but then Google declared war on them and the bottom fell out. Perhaps people stopped being scared again about their pagerank?

  17. Hinano!

RL has been keeping me away from the blogosphere, but honestly the only blogs that I ever keep up with anymore is yours and a small handful of others. I’m glad that you’re still active though. Your commentaries on narutards and pillow-fuckers are too precious XD

I hope you’ve been doing well. Take care ~

  18. Damn I’m a mega noob cause the only anime blog I read is your blog and that’s because I found it looking for Pangya related stuff. I don’t read anime blogs cause … well I don’t give a damn about other people opinions, I already know that most of the things I watch is bashed (well deserved btw) on every one of it so, why bother. Your blog is a different story, cause I don’t watch/read at least half of what you watch and of course I love to read JP’s comments ^_^.

  19. Hinano> after a second thought (and quick run through older posts) I think that our tastes aren’t completely different. I do watch Akikan, Ass & Ti… I mean Asu no Yoichi and Kurokami but I stopped watching Soul Eater after 3-4 eps, still waiting for SHS to sub Tales of Abyss and simply can’t stand second Clannad. I’m very surprised how I managed to watch previous one, it’s just not my type of story. I stopped watching dorama too, probably cause my poor ADSL is throttled with my anime, ans TV series downloaded by my brother and partly because I’m more picky with dorama than anime.

  20. I AGREE WITH TAIYAKI – JUNJOU THREE ALL THE WAY!!1! >D

lol, but on a serious note you really can blame any of these guys – blogging has been getting really tough lately! (and thats coming from someone who has all of 3 readers ><) plus, there really hasn’t been anything that special to blog about. however, when the new seasons of Haruhi and Full Metal come out, I think we’ll see a few bloggers log back on :D

  21. Nostalgia Disease | hontou ni sou omou?

  22. I’ve watched fuck-all anime for about six months except a couple of episodes of Mouryou no Hako and Skip Beat. I wouldn’t be dead if I had anything useful to say :(

(and hoo boy, did I get bored of writing summaries. Besids, no-one really wants to talk about anime on blogs any more. They’d rather get all meta until they explode :p)

I’m hoping to rise from the blogging ashes like a myopic phoenix for April. What will no doubt happen is I will think everything is shit and ignore Ye Blog entirely, but a man can dream, can’t he?

  23. roflmao well your boring ass summaries were a definite inspiration for me!!! xDDD I think back in 2006 it was your higurashi stuff that intrigued me
