So, after 5 seasons, 5 movies, and 2 OVAs, you still haven’t had enough Slayers? There’s still Lost Universe! At first, I was going to joke that Lost Universe was just “Slayers In Space” based on the same author, same character designer, same lightsaber, and a bunch of the same cast. After reading Wikipedia, it turns out that Lost Universe is actually set in the same universe as Slayers, just that it’s a “lost universe”.

Lost Universe wasn’t as fun as Slayers, nor were the characters really memorable in any kind of way, again unlike Slayers. This might make Lost Universe sound pretty bad. Well, Lost Universe has one big advantage that Slayers did not have: SPACE BATTLES. They’re sporadic during the episodic first two-thirds or so (you know, how lots of 90’s anime don’t introduce a multi-episode plot until the end of the run), but once the plot time starts OH MAN! There is more than enough seat-spinning-around to talk about the shields or enemies or the radar or whatever.

Would I watch it even if I weren’t forced? While I was bored during the non-plot beginning, once we got into spaceship mode I breezed through the last 8 or so like whoa.
