Hora~ catch you catch you catch me catch me matte~!
And so after reading 3 volumes of the manga and watching 11 episodes, I’ve come to the conclusion that the writers were high and wanted to make an emo anime series.
I mean without me having to even go into detail about how the anime story is screwed up how about we start with the fact that episode 1 is a fucking emo fest filler? I’m not sure why they chose to add “anime original” content when they only have 12 episodes to work with but in doing so the story became inconsistent to the point where I couldn’t tell between rhyme & reason. The fact that in this episode they started off as if they were following the manga but the fact is – they completely left out a character that was centered around this entire arc: Kohime who was supposed to become a town leader at age 9 just like Hime did back in the day.

In the manga, Touka is more than just a fangirl.
She was captured by the other town mayor and his “assistant” who was actually Enjin in disguise. This opens up a whole new can of worms because that blue haired guy who seems to be Enjin’s butt buddy in the anime, was actually only following orders from the town mayor who then felt guilty and ordered that dude to let Kohime go. Being that Kohime was never even introduced in the anime, the entire fight and plot of the anime seems retarded and pointless. The fact that they made Enjin show up for no reason multiple times was absolutely ridiculous considering he doesn’t even show his true form until volume 3.
In addition because they chose to cut ends here & there and add filler, a lot of characters were seen in a “different light”. For example Hime & Akina were both turned into some kind of fucking drama queens when it was totally not like that in the manga! In episode 11, Aoi was used as a GPS and then had to climb up all the way on top of the nanago to use her stupid Sattelite power. She didn’t need to be on top of the fucking tree she coulda stuck her head out the car roof. Also the driver guy, whose name I forgot, had a lot more prominent role than he did in the anime. In the anime he just felt like some background character.

Akina x Hime flag, wiped off the face of the anime.
In addition they’ve left out a lot of important stuff about how Hime is actually a youkai and Akina didn’t know this. When she became the town leader she asked that everyone’s memories be erased and no one knows that she’s a youkai. So then when the Enjin in diguise showed up he used a power that only works on youkai so needless to say everyone got weakened except Akina & Kotoha. That’s the reason Hime ended up in the hospital. Also what’s with the scarf? I thought it was cute that like Gin was part of Hime’s past but turns out he had nothing to do with it! In fact the scarf was MADE for Hime BY Akina, which is obviously an important part of their relationship, promptly destroyed by the image that the anime has given to the audience.

The loli that was discreetly cut out of the plot.
I was afraid that this would happen, I’d read the manga and then realize what a piece of crap the anime is, but I never thought it would be this bad. I mean I felt somewhere deep inside that the anime was so fucking emo but I thought maybe that’s just the way the story is supposed to be. No it’s really not. I guess it’s safe to say the only thing they kept in tact in the entire show is Hime’s tsundere song.
It does sound better. However Quartet fails just as an anime excluding its’ fail as an adaptation. I was really looking forward to the show and now it’s one of the worst ones I’m currently watching.

I caught the first ep and thought it was uninspired with a rather tired theme of youkai vs human prejudice. But I heard good things I pressed on with ep 2 and 3 but eventually still gave up.
Glad to know I’m not missing much. XD

Oh WTF, I was watching the anime alone and had no clue they butchered the adaptation so badly.

I only read one volume of the manga and survived one episode of the anime before giving up. -.-

Sounds like I was smart to drop the anime. Things were confusing me because I couldn’t remember what made sense just because I read the manga and then the anime kept on popping encounters and “revelations” out of nowhere so I dropped it after Enjin showed up in front of everyone for the first time.
Well, time to pick up volume three of the manga this weekend (maybe this time they’ll actually have it in stock somewhere…).

I mean I think the manga is pretty decent. It does pick up near the end of volume 1, but the anime can probably be passed on. Since it’s ending though I don’t think I’m gonna just “drop it” lol

I just watched episode 11 and damn it sucked sooooo hard. This anime makes no sense whatsoever, and there is no point to cutting important details in a story if you are just going to replace it with useless crap.
